Annie Tressler, MSW, LSW
Hi there, my name is Annie. Thank you for taking the time to visit my profile and get to know me a little better. I am honored to be on your journey to finding the care that you deserve.
I am a values-based therapist that prides myself on building lasting relationships and setting collaborative goals with clients. I’ve worked closely with young adults, kids, teens, and families, and I am passionate about engaging with the LGBTQIA+ community who are working through challenges to grow into who they want to be. I utilize humanistic and integrative approaches to equip my clients with the education and knowledge to thrive on their own, and I believe strongly in holistic therapeutic care to empower clients with autonomy and agency over their progress and wellbeing. Simply put, my intention is to provide a safe and fun space for clients to explore their values and identity, and I aim to walk alongside clients as they build confidence through self-understanding and change.
To share a little bit about me, I am a proud queer person who recently moved with my fiancé to Ann Arbor, MI from Columbus. We live with our dog, Sammie, and cat, Albert. I love to explore new food, and you can always catch me planning my next concert, especially anything gay pop or alternative indie. In the past two years, I have been learning how to play the bass guitar (a slow and arduous process, but so fun). The Wicked soundtrack is my Spotify most played album, and I have no shame in admitting my love for the movie (feel free to ask me more about my take on the therapeutic impact, and overall resiliency displayed in the story).
People describe me as someone who is both extremely direct and empathetic, a true Capricorn, and I think that juxtaposition makes me the therapist that I am. I work to embody a holistic approach to my own life to energize and ground me as I navigate the good and the bad. I aim to provide that same grounded and supportive presence to those in my life, and I try not to take myself too seriously all the time. I love to laugh and find ways to stay silly, especially with those I care about. That being said, I can dive into an anime binge (my favorite is Hunter x Hunter) or a show that just makes me laugh to really heal my introverted self.
Ultimately, I want to work to make therapy the space that is right for you, while remaining mindful and solution-focused in my approach. I believe getting to know a little about me is part of that process. If you think I could be the right fit for you, please reach out to our practice, and I would be happy to begin our work together.
